Prime Only

      We've gone to Prime Only a couple of times and so far so good.  Prime Only is on the edge of Nags Head, just past Kelly's on the right.  They have a good martini selection as well as a nice wine list to start you off.  Then we've had great luck with the appetizers, like the fried oysters.  All the entrees have been good, nice steaks and good seafood.  This is not really a casual dining restaurant and it's moderately expensive.  But, it's well worth a look.  Great for a special night out.

North Carolina Aquarium

     The NC Aquarium in Roanoke is a really nice place to visit.  It is the perfect smaller aquarium with fun stuff to do for kids of all ages and a surprising amount to see.  It's also a place where you can go at your own pace.  If you want you can see stuff pretty quick and move on to the other cool things to do in Manteo.  You could go to the nearby Elizabethan Gardens, beware of mosquitoes, or go to the Festival Park.  We like to spend time in downtown Manteo, shopping, Eating, or checking out the boats in Shallowbag Bay. Any way, I can heartily recommend a trip to the NC Aquarium.  

Blue Moon Beach Grill

    Located between the beach road and the bypass at mp 13 is the Blue Moon Beach Grill. This is a casual dining spot, so flip flops are cool.  We went there with some OBC friends, and everyone liked it. There were fish tacos, crab bisque, fish and chips, and I had a burger.   The food was all good, but I thought the sides were great.  Really good crispy fries, great rice and beans and nice slaw.  Blue Moon is worth a look.  It's on our list.

Awful Arthur's

      Awful Arthur's is just down the beach road at mile post 6.  This is a local favorite serving lot's of seafood faves as well as other stuff.  We had some fried oysters, cajun tuna, and alfredo for the kids.  It was all quite good.  We would go there again.  My sister went later and had champagne and raw stuff and she liked it a lot as well.  The prices are reasonable and the portions good.  Now this place is popular and on Friday and Saturdays it is packed. They don't take reservations and the wait can be a couple of hours. So go early or on a week day.

Barefoot Bernies

Bernie's is one of our regular haunts When we're in KH. It's a great place to take the kids, and a place to go after you ditch the kids with their grandparents. Everything we've tried on the menu is pretty good. At the bar I get the wings which I really like, and a cold glass of Fat Tire on tap. In the bar area they sometimes have live music, and it's generally a nice area to hang out, lots of big tv's for sports too. They also have those mega-touch machines my wife likes. Overall, it's relatively inexpensive, clean, family friendly, and yummy.
