Hurricane Mo's

One of the last days we were at the beach we had a bunch of friends from the OBC http://www.obxconnection.com/ over for some drinks and appetizers. So, we ordered some carry out from Hurricane Mo's. Mo's is just down the road from the Seahawk ,across from The Black Pelican at MP 4. We just got some basics, fried oysters, buffalo shrimp and hot wings, but it was all pretty good. They seem to have good happy hour specials so stop in for a drink and some appetizers. They don't seem to have a website?

Arglyes

Last night we went to Argles Restaurant which is about a mile from the house. It's on 158 a block north of Eckner St. The overall experience was great, but I did have few issues with the food. But first, the service was excellent. They make great martinis and have a decent wine list. The owner came and talked with us, the waiter took a picture for us and we could not have been made more welcome. On the other hand, I thought the food was a little bland. However, I do like bold flavors and spice, so most people might not have aproblem here. One thing none of us liked was a balsamic, oil and herb mix they brought out with the bread. So I thought it was good food but a bit lacking until we got a few desserts. Apparently, the owners wife is a baker and chocolatier, so the desserts were amazing. Some of the best I've ever had and I'm not big on sweets. Overall, a lovely time.

The Blue Point

Last night we went to the Blue Point in Duck. A first class restaurant all the way. Great service, good food and excellent views. The place in in the waterfront shops in Duck and you should look for that rather than the restaurant which hard to see from the road. Here, you need reservations, even during the off-season. Blue Point is a very long building, so every table has a view of the sound. Consider making a late reservation and enjoying a spectacular sunset.

Kitty Hawk Vacation Rental - Outer Banks Ocean Front | The Sea Hawk

Kitty Hawk Vacation Rental - Outer Banks Ocean Front The Sea Hawk

Pirate Adventure

Last summer we took our 5 year old and our nephews and nieces to the Pirate Adventure in Manteo. The kids had a fabulous time. First, they dress them up like pirates, then its off to search for treasure. The staff was really good with the kids and I consider this a bargain at 20 bucks. In the course of their voyage they do battle with rival pirates and come home with a pocket full of loot.

It,s a lovely day down on the Banks. In this blog we will talk about our Ocean Front house, The Seahawk, and all things OBX. We'll talk about things to do, places to eat, where to shop and whatever else. First, a little geography. The Seahawk is located at about mile post 3 on the beach road ( Virginia Dare Trail ). It's right on the Hawk st. beach access.
